Martin Gutmann is lecturer at the Chair of Negotiation and Conflict Management and in the Department of Management, Technology and Economics at ETH Zurich, Switzerland. He is the Managing Director of the ETH Swiss School of Public Governance and the program manager of the CAS in Public Governance and Administration and the CAS in International Policy and Advocacy.
His previous academic appointments have been as a Professor at the American Graduate School of Business, Switzerland and as a Visiting Professor at Quest University, Canada, as well as in various roles at institutions in the US, Canada, Germany and Mauritius. Gutmann has consulted for a number of educational, non-profit and corporate organizations, including for the African Leadership Network and Transparency International.
Gutmann has a Ph.D. in History from the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs, Syracuse University, USA and an Executive MBA from IE Business School, Spain. His writing has appeared in Public Money and Management, History Compass, Journal of Contemporary History, Studies in Conflict and Terrorism, Journal of Modern European History, and Journal of Contemporary European History.
